Squeezing Pain at top of Stomach Post op

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on Monday April 25th. I stayed in the hospital over night with no issues. I had Some Pain from surgery but that was expected. After coming home I started Getting these squeezing pains in my stomach. Under breast bone, above left rib. Its not constant, It comes and goes, lasts a few seconds each time. Mostly after eating but they do happen even if I'm just sitting. If I lay on my left side its worse. They were pretty intense at first. They have gotten a little better but they are still there. Dr. put me back on Clear liquids. Is this normal? Anyone else have this issue and know what it is?

I also had surgery on April 25 and I know exactly what you are talking about. My pains are mostly when I eat something. It feels like a big burp stuck for a moment and then goes away. I just figure it is our bodies adjusting to the new plumbing. I think things are going to be weird for a while until we are completely healed. I've been eating creamed Soup and pudding OK. I can't believe how LOUD my stomach is when I eat something. Sounds like a couple of cats fighting. Hopefully this will get better also. Good Luck!

April 25th here! My pains are lower like where the staples are and they come in spasms. Usually when my stomach is empty. IE: morning, and late at night. Can't wait for this phase of the journey to be done.

I would like this phase to be over too. I'm sure before we know it it will all be behind us. Doesn't make it any less frustrating NOW though : )

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
