Weight loss after sleeve

Recommended Posts

Comparing yourself to others is a recipe for frustration and misery. I know it's really hard to get your head around in the early days post-op, but your sleeve is forever. You will never be "done" with it like the diets of your past. I promise you that 10 years from now, when you are happy and healthy and maintaining your weight, how much you lost in the first month post-op will mean jack squat.

My doctor told me that the first month may not be as big as I thought. The body has to get use to it's new needs! My best advice would be after being allowed to swallow solid pills again find a really a good Multivitamin that seemed to work for me! The chew-able kind I was taking before didn't make me feel any better! After finding a better supplement I felt better and the weight lose really kicked in! Good luck on your journey!

And sorry if it bothers so much a question about weight loss I am not a pro at this so its OK to ask and you don't have to get so offensive and respond if you don't like the question sorry to bother you if your tired of seeing peoples post about weight loss then you should not be reading peoples post

Based on your topic I was willing to jump on board and give my own experiences... basically I agree with everyone else. Your journey is YOURS. Try not to compare to others, as everyone is different. Also, I too was going to tell you about the 3 week stall (and 6 week, and 12 week if you are like me). You are losing, and that is a huge positive to look at. Pretty consistent with what everyone else is saying.

However, what I really want to comment on now is your above post. Please remember that *YOU* initiated the discussion by posting to an open forum. That means you wanted people to respond to you. You don't get to choose what those responses have to say. You don't have to agree with them, but you did solicit them. If you don't want to hear what people have to say then perhaps you should stick to reading the boards to garner your information and refrain from asking questions of which you might not like the responses. Just my 2 cents.

@@Lucilla ... just saw this thread ....

My first month post-op (which is where you're at now) I lost 10.4 pounds.

I started at 235.6 pounds, was sleeved, have lost 100 pounds and now weigh 135 pounds. I'm 20.5 months post-op.

Don't worry about how fast you lose (by the way, I think you're losing pretty darned fast).

And also realize that the first month made a lot of us pretty "tetchy" and emotional -- while the old hormones stored in fat cells are being pushed out into the blood stream.

You're doing fine. :)

I am on the Flinstones chewable, and I'm exhausted. Which Vitamins work for you?

Not sure you were asking me ... but I use Centrum chewables. Nothing fancy.

I also take a probiotic (10 billion cultures), a Biotin supplement, a fish oil capsule, and a Calcium citrate / D3 supplement daily.

stay away from that danged ole scale!! you are still healing and dont even need to be worrying yourself with weight loss at this early stage.

take care of yourself, get your nutritional needs met, Water, and rest.

@@Lucilla post #9, that you posted, if you are reading and not posting - you said your doctor was fine with your weight loss. YOU thought you would lose more.

The answer is in your own post (#9), we ALL lose at different rates :D

Good luck!

i am ten weeks out and "only" lost 39 lbs. do yourself a favor and don't compare yourself to others. there are so many variables! compare your loss to how you were before surgery...how long it would take you to lose "x" amount of weight. you were so brave to get this done and are on a journey to weight loss and health. wait six months before you asses things..lol. you are doing great!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
