Hi. I'm semi-new here, but have been lurking the threads for quite some time. I was sleeved in Mexico on 2/12/16.

High weight: 399.4

Surgery weight: 381.4

Current weight: 341.2

I'm down a total of 58.2 since January and 40.2 since surgery. I'm having a really hard time mentally feeling like I haven't been very successful so far. I know that it's going to take time and patience, but it's hard when I'm not seeing results like I wish that I was seeing results. I haven't dropped in my pants sizes just yet, only slightly in tops.

Have any of you went through this? I think my struggle with this is because I went to Mexico and I don't have a local surgeon who is cheering me on during check ups and stuff. I have established a general practitioner to help with this, but not a surgeon that's been through it all with me.

40 pounds since January seems just about perfect! keep going, it will all come off. I had my sleeve in February and I am just a smidge over 30 pounds down, right behind you.

I almost think I couldn't handle loosing it faster, from the mental aspect of it, because of adjusting to how my body is changing.

@@Christinamo7 I can definitely agree with that. I had a great weigh in this week with a 6 lb loss, which is more than what I typically average. I think it's also hard because I live in my body everyday so I don't see the loss like others do.

See my signature to see how much I lost each month post-op. It seems like your loss has been great so far. I don't know why people think they should be losing like a pound or more a day post-op. Some people might, but that is certainly NOT the norm! What you need to remember is that this is not a "diet" like you may have done in the past. You aren't ever going to be "done" with your sleeve. So you have plenty of time to lose weight and the rate of loss will be meaningless in the long run. If you are getting your Protein and Water in, taking your Vitamins, getting up and moving regularly, and the scale is trending downward, you have nothing to be stressing about!

Someone posted an average weight loss chart on another thread a few days ago:

http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/366204-estimated-post-op-weight-loss-chart/?hl=%2Bexpected+%2Bloss+%2Bchart#entry4138642

According to that, with your starting weight, you are well ahead of the curve.

I haven't had surgery yet but I noticed alot of people have high expectations of weight loss. I think 40lbs since 2/12/16 (nearly 60 since Jan) is excellent! If you follow the plan - eat enough Protein, drink enough water/non caloric drinks & exercise - you will be a success! I would recommend finding a local Bariatric Nutritionist to help you if you feel you need it. I wouldn't rely on your GP to understand the complexities of WLS.

Take pictures and also measurements! The scale doesn't show the whole picture. I never realized how big I was until I saw pictures - you might need to see pictures to see how much you've "shrunk".

Some of us just lose slower than others. It took me two years to lose

my extra weight, which I have been maintaining for six months. I want to lose another 20 before having skin removal, but my doctor is willing to do it now.

I think if I had been one of those people who loses 100 pounds in six months, my emotional adjustment would have been difficult. If you lose a pound a day, you would be invisible at the end of the year.

Hang in there, kiddo. Follow your plan. Think long term.

I've definitely taken photos and that's really the only thing that is helping me through the changes.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
