Breakfast foods you love and are healthy

Recommended Posts

Prior to surgery I have always skipped Breakfast. I never was a Breakfast person however since lap sleeve surgery I have eaten or drank breakfast and now my body is doing well with it.

What are some of your breakfast go to foods?

I make crustless quiche muffins. Put whatever veggie and/or meat with some cheese in bottom of muffin tins - add egg mixture (like you were making scrambled eggs) and bake. They can be frozen even. I make them for a week and pop one in the microwave for a few seconds.

I'm too lazy to fix breakfast so I just have 3 oz of grilled chicken breast. I buy packages of grilled chicken breast from Trader Joe's and then just chop up the right amount and take it to work with me in a little container (I usually eat breakfast between 10 and 11).

You can't beat it for calories, carbs, and Protein.< /p>

On my days off I'll take time to cook some eggs, bacon and such. May even have a piece of leftover steak on hand, too.

Work days.....I'll mix some Protein powder and Water in a shaker bottle and call it good.....that or a Quest bar.

I have eggs either scrambled, "fried" in a no stick pan or boiled. Or sometimes an egg salad Sammy And one piece of oatmeal toast. On days off work I may have something else but that's what works on work days. I've never been very functional without a good breakfast.

On the weekends, I've been loving egg in Tomato sauce. I've just used Pasta Sauce in a jar, about 1/3 cup in a skillet, heat it up, crack in an egg, cover the pan til the white is set. Yummy!

breakfast go to foods?

@@FMoore2004

i love scrambled eggs :)

i found, bought a realllly small frying pan for one egg

easy, quick to make

can't have til you are on soft foods

now i have been drinking my GNC 25 gr lean Protein shake (swiss chocolate)

on an occasion i have had a bowl of Special K with Protein (solids) -

i am a VET - so no one will yell too loud at me

check with your NUT - since we're not supposed to eat and drink together,

she might say no to Cereal with milk

if you don't add milk - "probably" ok

quick breakfast to grab once you are eating solids - Protein Bars are yummy

can be addicting - word to wise - eat with caution

easy to eat too many (kind of like a "candy" bar with protein

btw - no donuts allowed at any time

glad you realize the importance of breakfast!!

keep up the good work

good luck

kathy

Thanks Everyone. I can eat regular foods so I'm loving the ideas. I usually eat eggs or egg whites or yogurt so I'm looking to change it up a bit.

My go to breakfast has been jimmy dean turkey sausage. I buy a bag of them out of the freezer isle. I need some new ideas for quick grab on the go meals in the morning.

Loved the idea of the crustless quiche, especially the ability to freeze. I used to make a Breakfast casserole before sleeve. I am going to try that today. Thanks for the tips.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
