Unjury vs Genepro (unflavored)

Recommended Posts

Which do you prefer post-surgery? I'm still pre surgery going in on May 10. I've been test driving some different Protein powders and while I don't want to overly stock up in case my tastes change I know I need to have something on hand. I tried unjury today in some chicken broth and found it to be totally fine. It made the broth a little creamy tasting which took some getting used to but I definitely didn't find it to be offensive. However, there was a lot of powder to stir into my two cups of broth (I was using a pre measured packet). The GENEPRO is appealing because of the smaller quantity and the high amount of Protein.< /p>

If you've tried both can you tell me how they compare in terms of taste?

I have not tried either of the two, but will tell you what I have had.

Pre op I had 100% whey Isolate cherry

Post up I am used that one, Isopure Isolate banana cream, another on the go Protein shake pack I bought at CVS and recently bought Isopure unflavored to mix to foods and drinks

This one I find great putting in the blender with banana and fat free lactose free milk

This shake = 32 g Protein

Great amount!

Many people, me for example love IsoPure due to it being high in protein low in carbs.

I will also be buying premier as I've heard it is really high in protein as well

I have the Unjury chicken also. I had some the day I came home. I didn't mind it at all...until........I fell asleep. I woke up and reached for a drink of the now cold Soup. Ugggghhhh. Never again. I can't stand to look at the jug of the stuff. I have the chocolate also. I didn't mind it pre-op. I made it with almond milk and ice. Now it is room temp Water.... I'm struggling to get it down. Everything is sweet, I oddly struggle with this. Never thought I'd say that. I think it's all the faux sugar. ...you know. ..how the seem to try and over compensate to taste good? Yuck, I can't stand it at this point. 11 days post-op now. Good luck :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
