I Am 60!!! Years Oldand Things are Bleak

green: Skin tags just love to grow in areas where a piece of clothing rubs constantly or at skin against skin contact areas. For men and women under the arms is a popular place for them to congregate. Men tend to host them around the collar area. Watch out for the little buggers. When one comes for a visit and decides he likes the place, he invites all his relatives!!

I have had a phenomenon lately that has me flummoxed - tiny little cysts. They don't hurt, you can't see them very well, but they create a little bump under the skin and they are an irritant. I had three of them removed at the same time as the tags. They required excising quite a bit of tissue and then stitches to close them up. I absolutely hate the little buggers. If there's anything that disgusts me more than a blemish on my fine, fair skin, I can't imagine what it is.

Green,

Have you tried using the acne fighting body wash? My sister is a runner and would get back acne occasionally from her sports bra. Maybe try using one of those loofahs that's on a stick? Just a thought. Absolutely unfair that anyone over 18 should still get acne!

As for botox, I'm only (kind of) kidding. I'm hoping there will be better alternatives when I need it. As for now, I spend a ton of $ on skin care but that's mainly due to my overall beauty products addiction. My bathroom rivals a salon. Anyway, whatever works, right?

I think I've had those horrible skin tags and if anyone actually cuts them off, don't you worry about them getting infected? That's brave!

Green: When I was young and competing in the workaday world, I had furrows between my brows that made me look cranky. (Fact is, I WAS cranky!) Once I stopped working for a living, those worry muscles just stopped making furrows and my forehead and between my brows hardly show any signs of aging anymore. Weird, right?

French women are so sharp about how to look attractive even at a more advanced age. We could read that book one French woman wrote about her beauty tricks and probably stop having to use so many products. Do you remember Simone Signoret? She was heavy, she smoked, she had a gravel Gerty voice (reflux?) and she was mysterious and attractive to men. Oh yeah, she was smart too, plus interesting and self-confident.

I'm with newgirl07, my bathroom vanity and cabinets look like I own stock in several different beauty products companies.

Btw, I have just started a new roseasca treatment and it is the first thing that I have used that has actually helped the problem!!! I also bought a few products in a line of cosmetics that are also contributing to my skin looking much better. I've used Chanel for years and I've stopped using it completely except for the lipstick and eye makeup. Their colors have more pigment and I just love them. Also love their foundation but I am afraid it is too strong for my precious :-) face.

Wow, this thread was like reading a short story in one of those Soup for the Soul books! You guys put your thoughts out so well, and though it's cynical and gloomy, it's still ironic and funny.

This is my new favorite thread!

I don't have a real response for this thread, but I had to let you know how entertaining it has been for me!

I was informed that I have acne rosacea when I was in England. I hate it. My nose is going to be deformed someday. What did you get for it?

This was the real cause of W.C. Field's whisky nose, I've been told. If I were you I would consult with a good dermotologist or plastic surgeon. I emphasize good because you need a doc who is hip to all the latest techniques. My roseacea is not the acne type and is situated on my cheeks. It merely makes 'em look rosy unless you are standing up close and personal. I guess I am fortunate.... I do have bacne, teenage skin on my back, and, man, it is itchy!

Thanks for the advice, Newgirl. I have just bought some and plan to start my new regime today. I also find it interesting about your sister and sports bras since these are the only kind of bras I wear. Maybe these are the cause of my bacne, eh? The thing is that I hate wearing bras and sports bras are the least uncomfortable. They minimize my size C boobs and make 'em look like a speed bump. :heh: I find this very funny for some greenish kind of reason....:bounce:

green, you funny. Last night we decided to watch a very old 1957 Perry Mason episode. We couldn't get past the hilarious pointy girls on the herione. I mean they could have put an eye out!! That was sexy?? They certainly were attention getters! I have a feeling she had invested in Playtex Cross Your Heart boobie slings.

Bitter: The stuff is new, or so my dermotologist said, and it is: Finacea gel, 15% (azelaic acid). I have dry skin so I have to be careful what I use and it does dry my face somewhat, but it is the first thing that has been prescribed for my rosacea that has produced any positive results. And I have used everything on the market I think. Even oral antibiotics he prescribed for it haven't helped.

Green: mine started out as just red cheeks and over the past 10 years has progressed to the spotty swelling on my nose (just the past 6 months). Very weird stuff. And I had heard that was W.C.'s problem too. Also, did you notice that when the Monica Lewinsky affair was raging, Bill Clinton's nose became red and puffy? He has rosacea too. Poor bastard.

A friend of mine had it many years ago and she said that after about 15 years, it just went away. Lets keep our fingers crossed, ladies!!

My face lift dude is gonna take care of my rosacea. I wouldn't want it to land on my already fairly impressive schnozz - it is shapely but it is large! Large noses on both sides of the family, eh..... Haha!

I remember those 1950s style cone tits. You could put an eye out with one of those bras. I think I want to get and wear one just for the fun of it.

I, too have an impressive schnozz, which I have learned to live with. It's funny, I find large noses on men somewhat attractive. I dunno, must be a phallic thing or something.......

As for rosacea, there's some evidence that it's sometimes caused by a tiny parasite that lives in skin pores. This is why antibiotics may clear up a secondary infection but it usually returns because the little buggers are still there.

There's a soap, Cottonthorn or Buckthorn, something like that, that works on killing the parasites. I told my BIL about this a few years ago, he used the soap and was cured.

It's worth a try.

A good friend of mine, Liz, has a husband with a really large schnozz. She says it's great because one day they may need it when his you-know-what gives out. Gross!!! You gotta know Liz to love her. She's a mess.

Devana I have never heard the parasite thing. I'm willing to try anything!! Can you get it at a drugstore or do you have to find it online or someplace?

Green, what procedure is your doc going to use to get rid of the rosacea for you?

Use his schnozz when his you-know-what give out? That's classic. I sort of wish I had a husband with a big schnozz. My own schnozz is short and I look like a pig. It's a serious drag. I always wanted to have a hooked nose, but alas. You all are hilarious. It makes me feel much better about being 60 with acne rosacea among other problems. It's currently nearly 2 a.m. and I'm sitting up with the dog who is afraid of rain. It's been thundering and raining and Jasper freaks out. He's really old but now deaf unfortunately, so maybe sleep is in my future. We can only hope. I did get a new mattress since I have spinal stenosis which means my backbone is narrowing and mashing on my spinal cord. That isn't so bad, but the spots where the nerves stick out from the spinal cord is also narrowing and that hurts. The new mattress is foam rubber and I can actually sleep on my right side for the first time in over a year. It's wonderful. I'm poor since the damn thing cost a zillion dollars, but I'm happy.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
