I packed, tooth paste/brush, hair brush, my prettiest nightgown, slippers and robe (I wanted to feel pretty which is not always easy right after surgery)

--my favorite perfume so I could smell like "me" and not "hospital".

I also took a chapstick, cellphone and charger and

my rosary--can't hurt, right?

Please post as soon as you feel up to it. We are not only nosy, but we care--really we do.

Scooching over on the, "Losers' Bench" to make room for you, my friend.

See you on the other side.

Prayers going up.

Chapstick, a heating pad, phone/charger, extra underwear, and a pillow for the ride home. Everything else (toiletries, no slip socks, etc. was provided by the hospital).

@@Valentina

Did you get to wear your night gown in the hospital ? :)

Yes, I did and it made me "less patient" and more "me". (it had poodles all over it, so I felt close to my standard poodle fur babies). :)

Thank you all so much! I'm really excited about getting this done and my support system has been wonderful. @@FabFemale I will say a prayer for you! I don't have to report to the hospital until 11:30am which is later than what I thought it would be but it will give me time to make sure everything at home is in order for my hubby and the kids.

I'm not up to packing yet but advice from a friend was to bring a pillow to hold for the car ride home for your abdomen if it's a bumpy ride and a back scratcher for those hard to reach places oh and I hear Chapstick is a necessity !! Good luck

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
