Unfortunately it's a pretty common "problem" area. Especially if you've had kids.

Well...I haven't had kids so maybe I'll be in luck not to have it too saggy there. lol

Like I guess the labia. I have fat lips?? I guess. But also like the area above the V is quite plump on me. I guess I have a fat pubic area?

The FUPA (or upper pubic area) tends to store fat especially for those who have had children. I haven't heard of other areas needing to be "fixed" but I know that is a common one after weight loss or even for those who don't need to loose weight but have had children. Fat builds up there and they can't get it off without having lipo/lifting the area.

Is it possible to not have loose skin at all? That is my biggest fear. I'm 5 weeks post op just started back at the gym - for cardio- will start weight training once I get Dr. Approval. I don't want surgery to remove it. Anyone here not need to get surgery to remove the skin? And just firmed it naturally?

It's definitely possible. My skin isn't loose at all eight months out, and though I've exercised (riding my bike to work and back every day, and breaking a modest sweat to videos on Daily Burn) it hasn't been intense. I'm a professor and have actually been mistaken for a college student more often since having the surgery than beforehand. I've been much more mindful about staying properly hydrated, and that's contributed to my skin being healthier overall. I think losing slowly can help decrease the chance of loose skin. I've lost at the speed of a turtle on crutches, but have slowly reached each of the goals I set out for myself thus far. From what I understand, your age, genetics, how long you were obese, the total amount you lose, how often you exercise, and how rapidly you lose weight are all factors.

Why would someone need to fix their VA Jay ja ? It's ugly to begin with , who cares . I'll keep mine the way it is .

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
