tany1157 6 Posted April 30, 2016 (edited) I've been a poster child for the perfect sleeve surgery and recovery these past 4 months. Lost almost more than average, and am able to eat anything. A few days ago, I started getting more acid reflux and actual pain in my stomach, mostly my left side. I'm going through a major (good) life change that had me super stressed out this week. My surgeon thinks I'm producing more acid because of stress, and put me on carafate for 2 weeks. I'm feeling a little better today, but I'm scared. I didn't have any stomach pain, even right after surgery. I've not had one regret with this surgery, but now I'm wondering, what if my reflux gets worse? What if it does damage, like an ulcer or Barretts esophagus. What if I eventually need a revision? I knew these risks going in (I had reflux for years before), but I'm managing it now with an h2 blocker, which would have never gave me relief before surgery, so it's a great improvement. Anyways, I'm rambling because for the first time, I'm scared that this pain won't go away. I'm hoping this was all just brought on by stress. KristenLe 5,979 Posted April 30, 2016 It's amazing what damage stress can do to our bodies and overall health. You're stressing about the stress. Don't worry about something that hasn't happened. I used to make myself sick worrying about the "what ifs". Worrying won't help and certainly won't stop whatever is supposed to happen.
tany1157 6 Posted April 30, 2016 This is why I wrote here, to get out of my own head, and for others to slap some sense back into me. Stress will make my issues worse. I think I need to get into some relaxation techniques.

JupiterinVirgo 846 Posted May 1, 2016 It is wise to pay attention, and to notice our little aches and pains. Most of us, however, have the tendency to let our minds run off like wild horses from that moment of noticing into far and unlikely destinations that probably we will not land in. Be proactive but don't be worried. Losing so much weight so fast is so stressful on the body, and it's going to groan and creek occasionally. Give it a good clean Water. Eat gently. And find some kind of practice that helps you cope with stress. I have a feeling you're going to be just fine. <

Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted May 1, 2016 Glad to hear you are feeling better. Learning to manage stress (both good and bad) is a major life skill I think that most of us have struggled with. I HIGHLY recommend getting a massage!
