Samara1974 116 Posted May 3, 2016 You TELL the PCP, you don't ask. It's your body and your decision. Opinions and or support are one thing, but it's not up to them. They can be on board and help or just keep any negativity to themselves. If they can't, go elsewhere. I agree 100% with Recycled you tell your PCP about your decision. It is your health and your decision if they do not want to support you then you need to find a PCP that will. I told my PCP and he was a bit shocked (because we had never discussed it and my surgery was the next week) but said ultimately it was my decision. When I got back I followed up with him; 30 some odd pounds down in a month and he told me he felt I made a great decision and plans on helping me lose all my weight during the honeymoon phase. cindyw41 761 Posted May 3, 2016 My old PCP wasn't on board. I asked her years ago to help me with WLS. I didn't know anything about the process. When I knew this is what I wanted, I found a new Dr. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
ecoreen94 37 Posted May 3, 2016 I mean she wasn't very familiar with centers to refer me to because the one she gave (which she googled) had really bad reviews. Plus she told me I should do a program which I guess I wouldn't be opposed to since there a 6 month waiting period. But I found a better Bariatric Center and will call them tomorrow because I missed their call today. ( which they call me within 20 minutes of my inquiry) it's looking good right now Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

rosestara 48 Posted May 4, 2016 Ecorren: I'm glad your doctor is on board. I used this site to help me pick a place to go to. I looked a what people said about the doctors there and also how well they liked the center. I go to my first informational session tomorrow

Good luck and keep up all updated on your progress!
