I had the sleeve on April 9th. I regret this surgery with every single ounce of my being!! Everyone says it get better...WHEN?! I wish every day I could take this back. I used to be so happy and now I hate even waking up.

Why exactly are you regretting surgery?

What things would you change if you could?

I personally think everyone goes through a period of buyers remorse at the beginning but it does pass .

I am very close to getting it and considered backing out... But to pros outweigh the cons 100-fold

I would encourage you to get counseling from someone with Bariatric Surgery experience. Depression symptoms can be worse after WLS and you might need some medication or meds altered that you take now. Hope you feel better soon.

I agree that you may find counseling helpful.

You may be experiencing some strong emotions due to erratic hormones this early out.

For many of us, not being able to use our default coping mechanism (food) can be difficult.

The bottom line is that you cannot turn back the clock and change your current situation. You can learn to make the best of it.

It will get better.

Keeping hydrated and keeping up your Protein will help a great deal.

Exactly what are you regretting about it-- post op discomfort? Temporary food limitations? What? Expound, please.

The sleeve is the only WLS that is not reversible, so we have to wrap are heads around "moving forward", not looking "back.

Your regret could very possibly be the hormonal "flush" that happens right ater surgery.

Try to focus on why you had WLS in the first place. It's not a surgery for the weak of heart or determination.

Force yourself (if you have to) to find that "silver lining". ---all that you will be able to do at a lesser weight.---how much healthier you will feel. ---how "maaavelous" you are going to look with that red dress and spiked heels. Oh WOW!! OK, maybe a little black dress... :)

Keep posting.

Prayers going up for YOU.

I'm 7 days into my pre op diet and already regretting it. :-/ but I know I'm being ridiculous. There's a better way to live life, I know there is. food is meant to fuel us, not consume us.

Honestly, I'm 10 days post op and haven't gotten over regretting this surgery but I still have hope that the constant burping, nauseous feeling, can't stand up straight because of the incisions, taking tiny tiny sips when I'm extremely thirsty and want to gulp, lower back pain, etc. My life has completely changed and I haven't gotten to the good part yet. I do remember my reasons for having this surgery and look forward to getting to the good part even though it feels like it's far away. Any who, we are now "sleeved" and going back trying to do it the traditional way is not an option at this point and that's unfortunate to me.

Okay I'm due to get my sleeve in June and everyone is kind of freaking me out. I hope everyone gets to enjoying and loving their sleeve like I imagine myself doing so....

The turning point for me was when I was able to eat regular cooked foods at one month. Even though the menu was very different than in my previous life, I started getting some strength and energy from eating real food that was not made in a factory. That, and visible weight loss started to cheer me up.

You guys realize what you're going through is all temporary, right? That what you're going through now will be different in a week, a month, a year? It will get better, I promise. Just hang in there.

I think you should call your doctor. It's not supposed to feel that way if you're following the post-op instructions. I'm 12 days post-op and I feel fine. I'm never hungry and I'm excited because the weight is falling off. I pray you find relief and start being happy again so you can enjoy your new body and your life ahead.

Sending you a hug*

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
