I don't know what your plan allows. some groups are more specific in their diet.

I was cleared to eat any foods at 4 weeks, but to focus on Protein, veg and whole fruits first. I have had popcorn a couple of times. I can manage about 1 cup before I am done, lol. but, that wee bit scratched the itch.

Thank you I guess I'll have to ask my nutritionist when I get past the 4 week mark

popcorn is a slider food so it should be avoided. It has no nutritional value and is just empty carbs. You need to be very careful with popcorn, chips, crackers, etc., as they produce almost no restriction, meaning you can end up eating a ton of it. Too many carbs will sabotage your weight loss.

I speak from experience. To my horror I allowed myself to eat popcorn at the movies and even though I was just a few months out from surgery I was able to eat almost an entire large tub of popcorn.

I wasn't allowed popcorn until 3 months post-op because of the kernels and shells.

I'm so glad you asked this because I have also become fixated on popcorn -it was my favorite snack food. So much harder now to go into a theater and smell the powerful aroma of delicious popcorn and hear people munching on it. I think because we're on this liquid diet for so long that we begin to crave something salty and crunchy in texture. But after reading some of these replies I think it's best to stay away from popcorn as long as possible and when the time comes when I can actually eat it I will only have a handful or two of it.

interesting. I find that it a little bit stuffs me and I stay with that full feeling a long time, it is not a slider food for me. but it will not be a regular snack either because of the stuffed feeling after just a little bit.

Well, you are only a couple of months outside of surgery. Wet popcorn in your mouth and see how it dissolves. In the future you will be able to eat a good deal more than you can now and that's when it will be a problem.

I'm seven months out and still a cup of air popped is pretty filling for me as well.

I started eating popcorn at about three months out and honestly eat a cup most every day. But I only eat the smart food delight that is only 35 cals per cup.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
