GodHungryGirl 0 Posted April 28, 2016 Hey guys, I'm 9 days post op. I feel great other than this left sided shoulder pain? I have read all of this stuff that the left shoulder pain can mean a leak? I don't have any other symptoms of a leak. Fluids go down great, no pain with intake, nothing else. Could it just be gas? It is worst when I wake up in the morning? It started on about day 5. Looking for some answers, kinda worried. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
JamieLogical 8,710 Posted April 28, 2016 For me the left shoulder pain was gas, but that was gone by 9 days post-op. I think it might be worth a call to your surgeon.
bookotter 0 Posted April 29, 2016 I had the same thing about the same time. My shoulder pain turned out to be pneumonia. I wasn't really coughing at that point, You might want to check with your doctor. Keep drinking as much as you can!! wishing you the best.
thinnerS 15 Posted April 30, 2016 Chances are it's only gas. That's what it feels like shoulder pain. It takes a while for the gas to go away.
FitFunFamily 53 Posted June 9, 2016 Agree that it is likely just gas, however, left shoulder pain (like shoulder blade area) can be a sign of gallbladder stones. I had terrible left shoulder pain and only occasionally had right side abdominal pain when I had my gallbladder out (same time as VSG surgery). Gallbladder issues are common after WLS because of rapid weight loss. Ever feel nauseous?
