I know this is an old thread. Just hope to get this topic going again.

Yes i went to an eating disorder clinic...Insurance would not cover.

Third year My bariatric professionals program view me as one of their most successful patients. What they don't understand Is I have disordered thinking around my weight loss I'm obsessive in my exercise ( exercise is viewed as a great thing in life) When you over exercise its becoming an issue.

The disordered thinking is driven by the fear of weight loss and being happy with the weight i'm at. I acknowledge that its preoccupying my thought and time. I am aware I push my workouts to the point of exhaustion. It's affects my blood sugar, I have brain fog, my Hair loss continued. Sports injuries.

I feel I have to have control of this...If I let go of maintaining the way I do...I have weight gain.

When life get out of control I replaced going to food for comfort to going two plus hours to the gym.

I personally don't believe that it's possible to become heavy enough to qualify for WLS without an ED.

It's not uncommon that eating disorders change gear. Anorexics become bulimics. Anorexics become orthorexic and fitness obsessed (see websites on "recovered" anorexics who seem now simply obsessed with fitness and healthy eating instead of losing weight). People with COE or BED become bulimic.

EDs very often don't go away, even with therapy there are very high relapse rates.

Sports injuries.

Had my fair share of these as well. My shoulder is still bothering me.

Also obsession with "healthy eating" was quite bad for a whole while. I can feel the pendulum swinging in that direction again. I don't really have any red flags right now but something is different. My thoughts wander into this direction more often than usually.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
