Hi there! My name is Felix and I just had my gastric sleeve done this past Tuesday (4/26).

After almost a full year of dieting, nutritionist visits, follow-ups and what not my voyage to a healthier life has begun.

I am coping with the pain involved in the first initial days post op and I have the full support of my family.

I was at 397lbs and at the time of surgery I weighed 342lbs.

Now mh main goal is to follow the doctor's instructions and stay hydrated, take my pain medicine, walk around the house and do my breathing exercises.

As I learn and go through the process I hope to be able to answer questions to those about to have the surgery.

I think it's good you are focusing on following all the doctor's instructions. It's a lot to manage and keep track of in the early days. I remember feeling like it was my full time job just trying to time everything out, make sure I was getting an ounce of Water every 15 minutes, taking my meds/vitamins on the right schedule, getting up and walking every so often, and napping (there was a lot of napping!). You really have to work at it and do your best to meet all the guidelines. Eventually you will get used to it and figure out how to make it work for you.

Welcome to the losers' bench!

@@Mr.Cat Respect your sleeve and remember it's a tool, not a magic wand. Tough love out of the way, good luck and enjoy the ride. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Be sure to check out the men's room. If you suddenly want to watch Chick Flicks (and that is not your usual taste), it's just a normal hormone dump which happens during rapid fat loss.(Just saying because I wish someone had told me early on)

My husband's coworker calls any movie without space battles a "chick flick", so that's become a running joke with my husband and me. Sit down to watch something like Deadpool... "ready for a chick flick?" :P

Ahhhhh! No wonder I've been craving to watch The Notebook and currently watching Pretty in Pink.

You have great days ahead. I started pre op diet at 380, surgery date 2/24/16 I weighed in at 364. Now just over two months later I weigh 299. Take full advantage of this first couple months and, take it from me, the results can be unbelievable. 81 pounds in 86 days! I would never have dreamed it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
