Any Austin TX sleevers!

Recommended Posts

I'm hoping to be sleeved towards the end of May (bday is May 13, I'll be 41!) in Austin. I have my evaluation this Friday at Dr. Ganta office. Was hoping to find fellow Austinite (& surrounding areas) sleevers!

Hey there! I am in Round Rock, north of Austin. I do go to the support group each month and Ganta is a great doc!

Best of luck to you!

I was just sleeved on April 26th... I'm north of Austin. My doctor is Dr. Acheson from Southwest Bariatric Surgeons. He was absolutely amazing. 2 days after surgery I found myself crying and asking what I had done to myself... day 3 I woke up and felt amazing. Once the gas pressure passes you'll feel so much better. Gross to say - but fart and you'll feel better.

Yay! Thank you, omg, I'm so nervous! I had an appt scheduled with Dr Acheson for a balloon but opted for a sleeve with Dr ganta. I'm self pay so trying to find what I want for what I can afford. I haven't contacted southwest bariatric yet for sleeve, maybe I should?

Southwest is a group of doctors, and you can choose who you want to work with. I was referred to Acheson to have my gallbladder removed, and once I met with him I was 100% sold that he needed to do my surgery. I've read some other patient's pre-op requirements from their doctor, and I would have in no way been ready for mine without Acheson. The psych eval, the dietician, and exercise physiologist all set me up for success and his staff is amazing. I was approved for my surgery less than 24 hours after my patient advocate submitted my request. I know that money is important, but when it comes to something like this idea take quality over money. I don't know Dr. Ganta, but I know Acheson is amazing.

Thank you! Think I'll contact them, Dr Ganta quoted 13500 for vsg and if I have a hiatal hernia it'll also be oop for me since he doesn't deal with insurance.

I'm not sure who told you he doesn't deal with insurance.... He's my surgeon for a sleeve on May 10 and he takes all kinds of insurance. I personally am private pay but I know several of his patients going the insurance route.

It was in the paperwork I was given today during my consult (&the dietitian also said that I would be charged the cost of the hernia repair if Dr G sees one during the surgery). My insurance doesn't cover wls, so they didn't even ask for my insurance info today. I did meet with him and thought he was great, very knowledgeable, confident, and funny.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
