I might be right below the rqmt., but they have not yet said No. They know my height and weight...hooe I am not wasting my time, I really want to be healthy again, and have more energy.

Based on the metrics you provided you've got a BMI just over 35. This is the cutoff for most insurances with comorbidities like HTN, DM, etc. Otherwise you'd need a standalone BMI of 40.

The common angst you will find among many threads is dealing with insurance. Have you contacted your insurance company to find out their minimum requirements for bariatric surgery?

Are you truly 5'5" barefoot?

sleep Apnea?

I was told that if it came down to it they could list me at 5'7" and it would be just enough to keep my BMI a little higher.

You may want to bundle up for that weigh in too...extra clothing, long pants, extra jewelry, roll of quarters in your pockets (bra) & drink about a quart of Water before you weigh-in :D

just sayin'

Chiropractor says I have arthritis in my hips, as well as some osteoporosis and curvature of spine. I have that in writing

@@TimeIsMine There are plans that only accept certain co-morbidities (diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea). In addition, many require you to be obese for more than 5 years (documented), documented proof of failing previous attempts at weight loss. Mine is making me go through 6 months of a supervised weight loss program - and I'm not sure if it is to see if I can lose on my own - or see if I can follow a diet post-surgery. I don't know whether I should be losing or gaining - it's very frustrating not knowing what they expect. Get in writing what is required for your insurance.

My dr told me to drink lots and eat right before my appointment and I took my shoes off when they went to do my height. Also I have been told(I didn't) but rolls of quarters weigh a lot and you can have some big pockets:)

I had to do a 6 month diet plan, the only thing is I could not gain even an oz. or I would be denied. I lost 5 pounds the whole 6 months and got approved without anything besides my BMI. Good Luck and drink and eat to your hearts desire right before your appointment!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
