I just ate 1 ritz cracker by taking ever so tini tiny bites and letting it dissolve in my mouth. Bad idea? I just couldn't deal with nothing in there anymore!

You really need to stick with your post op instructions. It's too risky - your stomach needs to heal. What you are experiencing is most likely head hunger or acid/gas and a PPI might help. Drink alot of Water if you feel hungry. Can you have sugar free Jello or SF popsicles?

Honestly, you need to follow your postop instructions. You say you "just couldn't deal with nothing in there anymore" - are you hungry, really? Or is your head saying "hey, I haven't had anything to eat! I want something now!"

Because this early out, I nearly guarantee this is your head, and not your stomach, talking. Your stomach has been sliced and stapled. It's very, very tender and swollen. It needs to heal and it can't do that if you're shoving food into it before it's ready.

Truthfully - what do your postop instructions say? Clear liquids? Full liquids? Stick to the plan. Your surgeon has given you instructions. specific ones. They are about healing after surgery. This is not a diet you can cheat on, the stakes are far higher here.

I did the same thing as you. I nibbled on quite a few things. I got in trouble for it here from the nice people that told me it was head hunger. Of course, I dismissed the head hunger notion immediately but I did make sure I never pushed my new stomach too far and I never had an issue.

Here's the thing - They were right about the head hunger. I promise you are not really hungry. It's just that you want something, not that you are really hungry. Overall I think it would be best for you to sip the Protein shakes and try to follow your program pretty well. If you occasionally nibble most likely no harm will come to you. But what if it did? Would it be worth it if you even had the smallest issue because of it? I do not think so.

I know that I did it too and that no harm was done. But what I should have done is take the advise of those who knew more than me. At least try to find a happy medium. You have just started this journey. There's a whole lot of things you will discover along the way. Don't rush.

3 days??? Ritz crackers???? Did you actually question "Bad idea????"........

What do you want from us.....?? fairy dust and a magic wand.

You had your surgery. You got your instructions. Follow them or not, it's up to you.

But don't look for others to enable you when asking stupid questions and whining. <_<

There is really no need to be insulting.

I'm 6 days out...I totally get the urge to just taste something other than liquid. However, push through it. Like others have said, there is a reason for the post-op program. As much as I want something other than popsicles and flavored Water, I prefer to not be back in the hospital with a complication. My hubby grabbed me Panera chicken noodle Soup a couple days ago and I've been eating as much broth off of that as I can handle because it tastes like real Soup.< /p>

Hang in there!

Listen to the advice given well except for the rude person. Its not worth ruining ur healing. Give it time... i get cravings too but i can get to those later on when im able. For now its healing time... try to keep busy so u dnt think so much about eating... i was a boredom eater...i knw how it feels.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
