Ok so I am asking this for my wife...she has lost 15 lbs in 2 weeks. Is this normal? I try and make sure she has stuff she can eat. Is this normal or should she be losing more weight than this? She is trying to make sure she gets in her liquid and Protein in. She never over fills herself. Are we still doing something wrong. I am worried she isn't losing ad much weight as we think she should.

Um.... on what planet is 15 pounds in two weeks not enough weight?!?!?

Edit: Sorry. That probably sounded harsh. It sounds to me like you and/or your wife have very unrealistic expectations about the rate of loss post-op. First of all, everyone loses differently so there is no "normal" or "right" amount to be losing. If she is following her program, moving through the food stages at the correct pace, getting her Protein and Water in, taking her Vitamins, and moving as much as possible, then she is doing everything right. These early weeks are all about healing and adapting. The scale should be the least of her worries right now.

Our Dr said we might could except more like 20-25 the first 2 weeks. I just was concerned she was eating too much or not enough or something

Every one loses at different rates. 15lbs in 2 weeks is good. It takes your body time to heal so as long as she sticks to the plan and gets some walking in - the weight will come off.

See my edit above. Rate of loss really should not be a concern at all right now. Recovering from major surgery should be the focus.

I am one week post op and ive lost nothing... not a single thing!

I would be dancing on the rooftops if i lost 15!

2 weeks is to premature to be worrying about the weight loss.... i was worried too... but we need to allow our bodies to heal and do what it needs to do.

As long as we do the right thing... the weight will come off

That doctor is smoking crack. How much does your wife weigh? Did she start with a super high BMI? I think you would only lose that much if you were super morbidly obese to start with?

Sounds to me like she's doing great. And it's sweet you're so supportive, too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
