I haven't had my surgery yet but I'm curious to know how much time did everybody who has had the gastric bypass take off

My surgeon asked me to take off 4 weeks from work. It is a possibility that I could go back sooner. We'll just have to wait and see!

Of course this will all depend on your medical history and current health, as well as how complex your surgery could end up being with possible complications.

I am an administrative assistant. Lots of sitting at a computer, but some walking. I took off 2 weeks and then worked about 1/2 time for the next week. Then it was full steam ahead. I had laproscopic surgery and a nearly perfect recovery or I don't know if I could have come back that fast.

Hi, I wasn't working at the time of my surgery, but I also had laproscopic by pass and I had no pain whatsoever. I took it easy for 2 weeks so as not to pull the staples out. I recovered very quickly. Hope you have as good of an experience as I had. My Dr. was fantastic!

Im 8 days post-op and while the pain, nausea, headaches and cloudiness has gone, I tire very easily. A trip to the supermarket needs a bit of a nanna nap afterwards :-). I have 2.5 weeks off work but can see that towards the end of that I will be bored so i will probably just do some work at home next week. I think if you have no complications and are going back to a desk job 2 weeks would do it.

It really all depends on you. I thought it would only be a few weeks but problems came up where I couldn't stand to eat or drink making me so tired I couldn't stay at work all day and the drive home. It's really is person by person. Try to stay on track with eating and drinking what you're supposed to and you'll be back in the workforce in no time [emoji108]????

Depends on your surgeon and what you do. I was off 2 weeks. This was mainly due to a no more than 10lb lifting restriction by my surgeon with no lifting restrictions after that.

I work at a hospital, performing EKGs and transporting cardiac monitored patients, so I was given "FMLA" leave for 4 weeks, so long as I have an easy recovery. I'm 10 days post op.. Not sure I'll need the entire 4 weeks, but I'm not complaining! [emoji4]

My surgeon wanted me to take off six weeks and I did. I'm lucky enough to be paid at 100% though. If you can, take off the 4 weeks. I was ok to go back 2-3 wks post op. Def not before then. I personally needed at least two weeks to cope with the changes my body was experiencing and the lifestyle changes associated with that.

I will habe my surgery on June 4th. My surgeon said you should really take 4 weeks off. That way you have time to recover and get back to eating food in the safe confines of your house.

I had surgery on Wednesday the 30th of March and was back to work on Monday. I work in HR so I don't lift anything so I was fine. I also never had any pain so I didn't have to take pain pills.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
