cat.jackson89 206 Posted April 27, 2016 Can anyone give me some guidance on the puréed food stage? I know I can have a soft scrambled egg, and puréed foods.. But is there a recipe that sticks out to anyone, or where might I find them? TIA
Daisee68 2,493 Posted April 30, 2016 Here is a link to a website page about pureed. The Ricotta Bake is amazing and I still eat it occasionally at almost 11 months post-op. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/pureed-foods.html My 2nd favorite during that time was fat free refried Beans with cheese melted on top. Daisee68 2,493 Posted April 30, 2016 @@cat.jackson89 - You are welcome! I didn't cook a lot during that time. I ate a lot of hummus (just with a spoon); sugar free chocolate pudding with 1/2 scoop of chocolate Protein powder mixed in; greek yogurt with 1/2 scoop of vanilla Protein Powder mixed in (Dannon Light & Fit strawberry Cheesecake and Key Lime are my favorites); pimento cheese (mixed in a little unflavored Protein powder); chicken salad and/or tuna salad (try with 1/2 lite mayo and 1/2 greek yogurt); and Laughing Cow cheese wedges. I cannot think of anything else right now but will come back if I do! I ate a lot of refried Beans with the cheese. That really hit the spot for me. (I added in a little spices to it like garlic salt and onion powder). You can also look under the forum here for food and nutrition and I think there is a whole section about pureed foods that might give you some ideas. Good luck!! Did you purée the tuna, or did you leave as is?
LisaMergs 2,854 Posted April 30, 2016 Wait on tuna until you hit soft foods or you can grind it up. Also the chunk canned chicken is good. Mix them with a little cottage cheese and add seasonings to taste. Purée does not have to be bland unless you can't tolerate it. I'm a spice nut and have tons of small packets from spice stores of different blends. Makes the same dish taste different. Lol. You can purée anything really as long as you add moisture to it. Dry foods are harder to get down. So things like broth, cottage cheese, yogurt, etc go a long way to helping your cause. And be careful- things like refried Beans are wonderful but if you also have another "dry" item it may be too heavy on your new tummy. Also- one of my favorites was taking 1/4 C tuna or chicken, 2 tbl cooked spinach, 2 tbl cottage cheese and a tbl of mayo, blending it and warming it. Kind of like a tuna melt! Katrinakit 139 Posted May 1, 2016 I can't wait for pureeds because I have always wanted an excuse to eat hummus all day ;P
Daniel2015 262 Posted May 1, 2016 Wendy's chili puréed with a handheld device was awesome. I needed something different and it just hit the spot! I'm a chili fan, do that probably helped. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
mytwopugs 1 Posted May 7, 2016 I mixed pot roast made in the crockpot with vegetable broth and blended into mush. Looked disgusting but it was the best meal I've had so far! I'm not allowed to have Beans or veggies, just Protein.
