Jersey Girl ready to get into the Band-mode Aug 21

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

I'm Melissa from NJ. I am having my lapband surgery Aug 21. Presently I am drinkin shakes, "eating" cream of wheat, drinking Water, and basically waiting patiently for my big day.

I would love to hear from all of you, especially anyone who was banded in Northern NJ, the area where I live (Bloomfield).

Ok take care and God Bless you all :):whoo:

Hi, I am Angela. I am getting banded on the 17th and currently on an all slim fast diet/liquid diet pre-op. It is extremely hard for me, but it will be worth it in the end. Welcome. Hopefully we can share our experienced and such since our surgeries are close.

Hi Melissa. I'm in South Jersey and still in the pre-op process. Who is your doctor? Not too many in this area. I have a friend getting done in September, in NJ as well. She more South too. Atlantic County. Hope all is well. Good luck.

HI,

My doctor is Dr. Strom in Glen Ridge, NJ. I was referred to him by a friend who had the surgery back in May. So far he's great and so is his staff. I have NJ PLUS Blue Cross & Blue Shield and today I was approved for the surgery. I think you can find him on line.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
