I just had my pre-op today as my surgery is scheduled on May 4th. The hospital where I am having my surgery gave me a sheet of paper with the statistics for death due to WLS and it is a very low percentage. There is always risk with any type of surgery but for me remaining morbidly obese seemed like the greater risk and also a death sentence. I think it's normal to be anxious and nervous but being in this group has helped me alleviate some of the negative feelings I was having about wls. I wish you the best of luck with your surgery and make sure you post with how you did.

Yes!!! @@1cutiejulie! I backed out of my surgery twice!! I am 3 1/2 months post op an I am down 83 pounds. Best decision of my life this far. I was nervous wheeling down to surgery and once I stated that they put me right out an woke up in my room a couple of hours later.

I was totally fine for mine, but my husband was sleeved a week later, and I was a mess. I didn't even sleep the night before his surgery.

Totally normal. Being wheeled into the OR I was telling my husband what to do if I didn't make it...Honestly, my odds of living a longer, healthier life are much greater now than I had continued down the path of morbid obesity. You will be fine :-)

I wrote letters to my husband and children telling them how much I loved them and my hopes and dreams for their futures. I told them to open them if anything happened to me. As I got on plane ( had surgery overseas and travelled by myself!) changed my mind and told them to open them when I was in the recovery room cos they deserved to know now much I love them and not when I've gone.

I never feared dying I mean sure there was the thought of that possibility but I never took it as a threat because I figured my time is just my time and if it wasn't going to happen one way at that date and time it would've happened another way but that's just my belief. I did however make calls to my loved ones and told them that I loved them just in case lol. When they put the anesthesia mask over me I still wasn't scared. Just like "Here we go off to the loser's bench!" I think you will be fine positive thinking helps.

Uh ... I thought you were seriously asking if people had felt the same way you are. Didn't realize you were looking only for responses from those who felt the same as you.

What would you like help with?

I'm really thinking of the same thing and freaking out. I mean should I sort out everything in case something happens? I haven't been able to sleep a full night since I found out my surgery date!

Even if I'm understanding what ur trying to say, I asked more than two questions. Therefore I wouldn't know which two questions u were answering anyways. I am feeling much better now so no advice or anything needed from u at this moment. I love this site! Thanks and have a pleasant day!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
