Still addicted to carbs!

Recommended Posts

I also think visually seeing what you are eating helps too. If you can see the calories and carbs in those items you are eating it might make it easy to let them go.

Also, your progress so far is great. Don't let those carbs hold you back from your goals.

Thankyou so much, that's very true.. I'm back to the gym tonight to so I'm hoping that will help as well with keeping me away from carbs lool

You're going to be surprised when you just eat Protein and a few veggies you won't have much physical hunger at all. Also, Protein helps keep you satisfied longer and burns more calories to digest, too ;)

I'm a big fan of myfitnesspal, I use it religiously to track my food and Protein. You may need help setting it up to meet your needs and adjust it to a weight loss surgery patient.

How are you doing on getting your Protein in? At 5 months your restriction should still be tight enough that by putting Protein first and getting in 100 grams a day, you just don't have the room for carbs.

Not great I can only drink half a glass really and makes me feel sick.. that's with milk but I don't know if to just try Water with the powder :/

I don't mean just Protein shakes. I mean overall protein intake from real food as well. How many grams of protein are you getting a day?

I'm not totally sure.. I'm bad at this lol I need to start watching my protein intake really

I HIGHLY recommend you track your food. There is no way I would know whether or not I was getting enough protein if I didn't track.

I too use my fitness pal. I find it the best for tracking all nutrients that I want to watch. As for the carb issue, it is not easy but as others have said the less you eat them, the less you will want them.

Try Noom Coach. It puts your intake in a pie chart. I find myself want to see more green than red. (Which is good for you food vs bad for you food) and congrats on your weight loss!! :)

My surgeon says that obese people are carb addicts. And the only way to kick an addiction is to abstain. When you eat carbs your blood sugar spikes up and then falls quickly sending a message to your body that it's time to eat again. Carbs just make you more hungry. Cut them out and you won't crave them. You'll still have to battle your head hunger though.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
