shelbys mom 70 Posted April 25, 2016 Has anyone experienced dumping for a long time after surgery. I know its common at first, but someone said it can happen for a long time afterward???
KristenLe 5,979 Posted April 25, 2016 What are you eating that's causing it? I was under the impression that dumping can happen forever if you aren't able to tolerate what you're eating.
Valentina 2,642 Posted April 26, 2016 First, dumping is different than not being able to tolerate a food because your sleeve isn't healed enough yet. Only about 17% of sleevers have dumping syndrome. Some of that percentage will phase out of it eventually. Some of us--not so lucky. I will be 5yrs out this June and still experience dumping whenever I eat: anything overly spicy, anything overly sweet, rich, or greasy.--all things I shouldn't be eating often anyway. I don't necessarily view my dumping as a bad thing. It definitely keeps my honest and on track. Believe me when you "dump" you will remember what you were eating at the time and will vow not to eat it again on purpose for a very long time. I hope I have answered your question.
