Recommended Posts

Getting nervous for this appointment. Kaiser has so many requirements to be approved. Been doing at least 85% of lifestyle changes if not more. Just want my surgery date . Getting close to 30lb loss. Off soda, sugar, eat Protein first, drink oceans of Water, moving and grooving. Just want to pass eval!

I would not worry - just be honest with them and you'll be fine. Google Psych Eval for Bariatric Surgery and you will find some of the questions asked. They want to make sure you don't have any uncontrolled mental illness or substance abuse issues. You will need to review your weight history and diet attempts. They'll ask you what you want out of WLS and what you know about the Sleeve - before, during and after surgery. They'll have you fill out some questions about your eating habits. They're there to make sure you are ready and prepared! Good luck!

I'm having a devil of a time just scheduling a psych evaluation. My surgeon gave me 5 doctors to call. One doesn't even do bariatric psych evaluations anymore. One isn't accepting new patients. One doesn't answer the phone. The other two make me leave voicemail and never call back. How can I find one who will assist me?

Kaiser is a one stop shop and it was hard 2 month wait as they only have one psychologist per region for WLS. That sounds crazy what you are going through like a real breakdown in communication btn providers. Do not give up. Can you bring this to the insurance company's attention? Hang in there.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
