Jmbdt 9 Posted April 25, 2016 Hi all, I had my band op 20/4/16. I feel so good in myself everything healing nicely. But my shoulder! I'm climbing the walls! I've tried heat, peppermint tea even gas remedies! Does anyone please please have any other ideas or could tell me this will stop eventually! If this is a permanent fixture I'm doomed!! It's been so bad at night it's been reducing me to tears! I've been walking for the last hour and half just to keep it away! Please help! KristenLe 5,979 Posted April 25, 2016 Moving (walking) is really the only thing that helps but do you have pain meds to take at night to allow you to sleep? If still bothering you tomorrow - I'd call your surgeon for guidance.
AmyR 38 Posted April 26, 2016 It will go away. Mine took about a week to completely go away.
Jmbdt 9 Posted April 26, 2016 Thanks guys. I've got pain meds but they don't seem to help. I don't wanna jinx it as I had a terrible night last night but during the day today it's not been as bad. But it's still there waiting to flare up I can feel it! Thanks for taking the time to reply I really appreciate it x Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
tkhay04 20 Posted May 1, 2016 I had the same thing. Major pain in left shoulder. Way worse pain than any incision pain. I filled a tube sock with rice and warmed it in the microwave and used it to massage and that helped some. Jmbdt 9 Posted May 1, 2016 Ah that's s good idea tkhay04. I've still got it and I'm 10 days post op now, it's the only thing holding me back. At night its excruciating. How long did yours last for? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
tkhay04 20 Posted May 2, 2016 Mine lasted for maybe 3 weeks. Got to the point it was only once in awhile. But when it hurt it hurt. Sent from my VS985 4G using the BariatricPal App
Jmbdt 9 Posted May 2, 2016 Thanks for getting back to me. I've still got it 12 days post op now it's so painful it's driving me nuts and my shoulder is raw after constant hot Water bottles. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
blm1* 5 Posted May 3, 2016 I had the same problem... It was the worst. I used a spray from Walmart to reduce the pain in my shoulder... It helped a little bit but then I would use the heating pad... I know your pain... It does get better though... I had mine about three weeks :/ Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
Jmbdt 9 Posted May 3, 2016 Thanks Blm1 least I know there should be light at the end of the tunnel. I've been up every 2 hours last night so had a very bad night. I've never known pain like it! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
blm1* 5 Posted May 3, 2016 That was the same problem with me it was such bad pain.... I had no problem with the surgery... That was my problem. Still to this day ( I'm 3 months post op), I get a sharp pain in my shoulder, I'm not sure if it's a side effect but it's no where near as bad as the pain I experienced right out of surgery! KristenLe 5,979 Posted May 3, 2016 I would check with your surgeon if the pain is still that bad. Hope you feel better soon!

Elle09 157 Posted May 3, 2016 I found that the heating pad helped and massaging the area. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
