Recommended Posts

After 1 week post op, has anyone graduated to full liquids? Does that include any Soup, or milkshakes or shaved ice? Please help!

This was my liquid meal plan from my surgeon's office. But don't you have a nutritionist who has given you guidelines?

Also, I would stay away from milkshakes/shaved ice because it has a ton of sugar, which will cause dumping. You don't want that experience, trust me! You should be aiming for 5 or less grams of sugar in everything you eat, or at least those are the guidelines I was given, and the same ones most people have. Sometimes 4 or 5 grams of sugar was enough to make me really sick in the beginning.

Awesome! Thank you! The RN in the hospital told me liquids, and I was hungry today.. I ended up choosing fat free vegetable broth

Generally in the full liquid stage, this can be Soups that have been strained from solids. Beef broth is a good example. In the puree stage, this can be Soups that are blended in a blender. In the solid stage, this can be a can of Soup with solids.
