New Here and looking for support

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!!!! I'm Christina and I am new to this group. I just felt I needed some support and just a place to hear how other banders are doing. So I started at 303.7lbs, had a 3day liquid diet lost 5lbs but day 1 post op was back at 303....surgery was 3/22. First fill 3cc was on 4/20. As of today 4/25 I'm down to 287.2. Lost 16.5lbs since surgery! How is everyone else doing at this point? I kinda feel like I'm behind because I didn't really have a liquid diet. I'm happy to say I'm drinking a ton of water! I wish I could have a little less sugar and stop bored eating. I'm eating the right things, and mostly tracking what I eat through a ww points system. I think I'm going to start drink a glass of Water or tea every time I think I'm hungry because honestly sometimes idk if I'm hungry or bored. Also I definitely need to get my ass in gear as far as working out but I'm super lazy and Being this big I get discouraged/very winded quickly. Anyways hope everyone is doing well, any tips are appreciated, and I can not wait to connect with you everyone

It's too soon to be getting down. I am only 5 month out from Band Surgery and have come to a stand still. I know I need to move more, which I have started to do. I have about 50lb to go and a long road to learning.

Congratulations and keep up the great work! Don't get down!!! I find that drinking Water and walking keeps me focused and less inclined to cheat. Also, I have a supply of sugar free fudge bars in my freezer at all times!!! That is my saving grace. I am down 26 lbs and 27 days post op (includes two week pre op diet) and feel fantastic! You can do this!!!!!! Start slow with walking, you don't need to kick butt at the gym or anything. Keep us posted as to how you are doing!!! Don't think about where you want to be, think of how far you have come!!! :-)

I just have to stop comparing myself to others. It's hard not to kind of a little obsessed with your progress everyday. I joined this group to stay positive, to value every ounce I loose, and to just stay on track. Thank you for the feedback ladies I really appreciate it.

Everyone is different! And remember, you just took a major step to feel and look better. AND to be healthier. That says a lot about you and your commitment.

Congrats, you are in the right direction and it will come off. I had my LB surgery on 1/14/15 and since that time I am down 145lbs and 18 inches off my waist. They (5) medications I was taking for HBP & Cholesterol and a Water pill are all gone. All I take daily is a Vitamin. It will work for you as well. Enjoy the Journey!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
