Torani Sugar Free Syrups

Recommended Posts

Does anyone use these and what do you use them for? I've seen posts where people use them and it looked really good. But I don't remember exactly what all they used them for.

@bdfletch - I personally don't like the taste but I have read where they were used for flavoring coffee and smoothies :D

I would also like to know how to use these. A couple weeks ago, I tried flavoring regular black coffee with it. It did NOT taste good.

Am I not doing it right? lol

I used them when I made my own Protein Shakes with unflavored whey isolate. They are just a way of making flavored shakes without relying on flavored Protein powders. I had about 6 different flavors and would mix and match them... like vanilla and orange or strawberry for a creamsicle falvor.... chocolate and irish cream for like a mocha coffee flavor....

Torani sugar-free syrups are thin liquids, not thick syrups as you may expect. You can use them any way you'd use "real" syrups as long as you're aware of the consistency. Taste is subjective, so you really need to try for yourself.

I use the chocolate in coffee. Sometimes I use a spoon or two and mix with Peanut Butter and a bit of banana as a snack.< /p>

I bought the gingerbread flavor as an experiment, but didn't care for it in coffee. The bottle will last a long time, as I do like it on my rare french toast. It works for me in oatmeal, too. Didn't care for the pumpkin-spice because I couldn't tell what the flavor was supposed to be. Tried the vanilla and the almond, but never bought them again, which suggests that they were no better than using extracts and splenda in coffee and, for my purposes, less versatile overall.

They make loads of flavors. Trying out the ones that have any appeal for you is up to you.

I bought a few and am not really sure what to do with them. I need to experiment more.

Torani gave me headaches though, so I switched to Monin. Watch out for that.

mainly for changing up the flavor of your Protein Shakes. but I've also seen some people mix a little into plain greek yogurt to give it some flavor (haven't tried it yet, but plan to). Amazon has tons of flavors but I found them cheapest (and good price on shipping too) on a restaurant supply site called webstaurant.com . While the site is intended for restaurant supply they will ship to a residential address.

Walmart carries them (in my town, anyway), as well as grocery stores.

Eggface has a blog with recipes; she uses them a lot.

I use them in Protein Shakes. I make a lot of coffee-based Protein shakes, i.e., 8 oz cashew milk + 1 scoop Chike iced coffee Protein Powder + 2 tsp instant coffee + 1 shot chocolate SF Syrup + 1 shot hazelnut SF syrup = hazelnut mocha Protein Shake. Pretty darn good, too. I wouldn't use them in just regular coffee though -- I like my "real" coffee black.

I buy Fage plain yogurt and flavor it with any of the syrups. Then I'll stick them in the freezer until they are just about solid. Stir it up as best as I can, boom! Froyo!

I use the SF vanilla and SF hazelnut in my morning coffee with Creamer and sweetener.

I use the SF black cherry, a couple squirts, in an powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury vanilla Protein shake made with milk for a black cherry shake. I have the peach flavor, too, but have not tried it yet.

For an orange dreamsicle Protein Shake I use SF orange drink mix, skim milk, and vanilla Unjury. Sometimes I even use a little SF pineapple mix to make it orange pineapple (happen to be drinking one now :) ).

It's easy to get creative with the flavors using them with either the vanilla or unflavored Unjury Protein Shake powder.

I get tired of plain vanilla, chocolate, and mocha shakes so it's nice to have several flavor options.

For what it's worth, I found that the portion size they show on the bottle is way too much, but as long as I use lower amount (sometimes 1/2 tbsp. sometimes 1 tbsp.), then it works pretty well. I use them in shakes but I like the idea above of using it in yogurt. May try that...

These syrups are a staple in my pantry. I use one every morning to flavor my coffee, and will also add a tiny bit to smoothies, Protein shakes, plain Greek or Bulgarian yogurt, and to ricotta cheese to create a dessert. I add the white chocolate Syrup to peppermint tea. It's delicious. I prefer using just a small amount rather than the two tablespoon serving size so it will add flavor without being overpowering. The World According to Eggface uses these syrups in a lot of recipes, my favorite being the pancake bites.

The flavors I've liked the best are S'mores, White chocolate, Belgian Cookie, and Salted Caramel. I haven't been as impressed with the fruit flavored syrups. The Bed, Bath, and Beyond near my house carries World Market groceries, so I usually buy them there. They have the smaller bottles of caramel, vanilla, and hazelnut for $2.99 so you can experiment with them. If you're in the LA area Bay Cities has medium sized bottles for $3.99.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
