GermanShepherdMama 145 Posted April 25, 2016 (edited) I just started my 2 week pre op liquid diet this morning. Surgeon says no coffee. But I can have plain decaffeinated coffee.< /p> --And let me tell you, I'm about falling asleep at my desk right now. No coffee sucks. SeaEli 15 Posted April 25, 2016 I think it depends on the surgeon; mine said I could have plain black coffee... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Cervidae 2,389 Posted April 25, 2016 regular black coffee was on my pre-op list but it was STRONGLY suggested I quit it altogether, as it's not something you can drink after surgery, and weaning off of caffeine while trying to heal from major abdominal surgery does not sound like a fun experience to me. mostly10 6 Posted April 25, 2016 all the info I've gotten is that coffee is okay. BUF Decaf isn't a big thing here in sweden so I don't think anyone would think to nix caffeine altogether. ~~ nell.
j16 166 Posted April 27, 2016 My surgeon and Nut said coffee was fine but I had already switched to Decaf thinking I would have to. I'm planning on staying off coffee for now. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
PaulaB72 49 Posted April 27, 2016 My dietician was fine with it too. Within reason. Pre and post op. However I just don't have the desire for it like I used to pre op. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Tommy Joe 113 Posted April 30, 2016 So what is it? I'm a huge coffee drinker, fully loaded caffeine. I'm having the mini bypass in June in Tiajuana. After surgery is caffeine gone for our life? I'm willing to give it up if I have to, just gonna be rough:)
newmebithebypass 713 Posted April 30, 2016 I was told by my nut and surgeon no caffeine for a year post op Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I257 using the BariatricPal App
