I am 15 days post surgery (sleeve gastrectomy) and here are some issues / questions I hope you can help me with:

1) For the first 2 weeks, I was on clear liquid diet. I lost 22 pounds/10 kg in the first one week but I stalled on day 8 and still am on stall. Is that normal?

2) My surgeon suggested I include "Isopure" Protein powder into my diet, 1.5 scoops in water/milk 2 times a day. Is it a good one, anyone else using it?

3) Can I eat scrambled eggs at this stage? I am sick of clear fruit juices.

4) Am I allowed to eat flaky well cooked fish?

Please help.

#1 Yes, it is very normal to stall, 22 pounds is a lot of weight loss. Your body is catching up and healing

#2 I never used Isopure powder, only the clear liquid Isopure. I usually used pre mixed Premiere Protein or an unflavored Protein Powder in almond milk. But I am sure someone else on this forum has used the powder.

#3 & #4 It depends on your surgeons quidelines. I was on full liquids from day 9 to 14. Check the info they gave you, if you have been allowed to advance to soft then yes, scrambled eggs and well cooked fish are okay.

Keep up the good work, stick to your plan. Stay hydrated, keep positive and allow your body time and you will do great!

Yes, a stall early out is completely normal. Just focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids and stay off the scale.

I haven't tried that particular brand but hear it is a good one. If your surgeon recommended it then he probably thinks it's a good idea. Why not try it?

3) Can I eat scrambled eggs at this stage? I am sick of clear fruit juices.

Is scrambled egg allowed at this stage for you? Even when it is allowed, some people have difficulty with eggs early out. When you are allowed them, make sure they are really soft/runny to start with.

4) Am I allowed to eat flaky well cooked fish?

What does your food plan say? I was allowed soft fish on my soft phase.

Please help.

At 15 days, you aren't in a stall, you're following a normal postop course. Remember that while your primary goal may be losing as much weight as possible as fast as possible, your body's primary goal is to heal from the insult of surgery.

And your body needs to heal. It needs rest, fluids, nutrition such as your new swollen and tender tummy can handle, and that you do some walking or other gentle exercise.

I can't answer your question about fish or eggs, as I don't know whether you're still on full liquids now - I was on Day 15. I had soft boiled eggs at the pureed stage, and fish not long after that. I'm still on softs at Week 6.

I hope this helps. Put away the scale for now, it will only make you crazy.

My sister is 1 year ahead of me with the sleeve surgery. She told me to write down my measurements so I did. When I hit the three stall I kept measuring and was still losing inches. For me that kept me going when the needle didn't move. I measure every Saturday. Good luck

Per my surgeon- healing from the sleeve procedure is more intensive than the bypass, so progressing through stages is harder. There is a greater surface area to heal from a sleeve and it's much more delicate. Take your time, even if it is hard. You will be on foods soon enough. Good luck!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
