I'm 14 months out and STILL can't digest red meat adequately...

Every now and then, when I get a hankering, I chew and chew and chew and chew and spit a lamb chop...

But apart from that, it's fish  and chicken...

And stinkin' Protein shakes!!!

Don't get me started!!!!

Wow!! I'm finishing my third week post op and still doing egg salad, refried Beans, etc. I'm still eating slow small bites and it feels like every bite "sticks". It feels like a lump. Am I behind schedule? Does no one else feel these things like I do? Now I'm concerned something isn't right....:-(

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I was sleeved 8th March 2016.

I am still on my 2 weekly food phases.

In week 7, I was advised I could try some soft red meat.

Prior to that on my Soft phase, I was having minced chicken and minced turkey, with stock and cheese sauce.

No problems there.

I was worried re red meat in my Soft to more Solid phase.

Decided to try Shepherds Pie, with minced beef and vegies. So far so good, it is all soft and juicy. Got to chew really well.

Wouldn't dare to eat pepperoni or steak yet.

Plus my taste buds have changed, and I prefer white meats, such as fish, chicken or turkey these days.

I am now 2 months post op and I am learning more about eating very small amounts then going back 30 minutes later and eating a couple more bites. I have ordered some Protein bars low in carbs and some new Protein drinks. I keep trying new products to try to get the Protein I am supposed to have. I have a difficult time getting the protein I am supposed to have. I have lost 28 lbs. I am 5' 3". My starting weight was 234 lbs. and now 206 lbs. I had no energy and stayed tired most of the time. The past week my energy levels have improved greatly. Just wanted the newbies that it does get better as each week passes. I have had several problems but it is so worth it all!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
