kaciii 38 Posted April 23, 2016 How soon did some of y'all eat meat after surgery? I was sleeved on 3/30 and I'm dying for some type of meat. I've had pepperoni and salami and did fine I'm just terrified of moving to the next step. (Chicken... Sandwich meat .. Etc) and how did your stomach handle it ? Talaria 50 Posted April 23, 2016 My Stage 3 (a few days post op) allowed me to start on chickeb and fish (pureed or mushed). I did fine. I can start red meat for a while, though. Just chew thoroughly and go slowly. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
stevencornell69 107 Posted April 23, 2016 Sleeved 3/29. I've had filet mignon, Popeyes chicken, etc. Popeyes was too greasy. Filet was fine. Be sure to measure your food. I find that the filet (and Popeyes) tastes so good I tend to exceed portions. I'd stay away from sandwich meat. Lots of sodium. And a 2-3 oz filet is cheaper now anyway haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Monie717 183 Posted April 23, 2016 Wow!! I'm finishing my third week post op and still doing egg salad, refried Beans, etc. I'm still eating slow small bites and it feels like every bite "sticks". It feels like a lump. Am I behind schedule? Does no one else feel these things like I do? Now I'm concerned something isn't right....:-( Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I feel the same way and I am also finishing my third week. All I can do is Protein shakes , eggs, refrain Beans and hummus. I have to eat really slow and about 3-4 teaspoons and I am full and full for a long time. I asked my dr and he said as long as I am getting my Protein and Water everything is ok. I guess it will just take us longer then others. Good luck.
kaciii 38 Posted April 24, 2016 Thanks. I was having problems for awhile as well so I was on puréed food longer but now I'm doing great so was suggested to advance. I want to I'm just scared of having those problems again.
Monie717 183 Posted April 24, 2016 Thanks Choicmun I was getting worried. Do you get that "stuck" feeling? Like the good takes extra long to get into the stomach? Do you have a sleeve? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
pet195959 10 Posted April 24, 2016 I was sleeved on 4/07/16. I am having problems eating almost everything I eat feels stuck in my chest area. I am learning to take about 3 tiny sips of Water every 10 minutes. When I eat I eat about 3 to 4 tbsps. of food that is about all I can have. I eat this every 2 hours. I tried the refried Beans and that was a big no, no for me. If I eat like this I can keep it down, otherwise, it comes back up. I was in the hospital for 6 days and it was supposed to be the day of surgery and go home the next day. My doctor is wonderful I have no complaints. On the fifth day, they took me off all medications and within 12 hours I was able to go home. Would I do this again absolutely the majority of people do not have this problem. My future is going to be bright and it is defiantly worth it. In a little while, I will be better and be grateful. I will be eating baby food, mushy food, Protein shakes and Water till I am better. kaciii 38 Posted April 24, 2016 Well I skipped the meat and ate some steamed zuchinni and I don't wanna stop! Should I be worried or is it my stomach healing so it can hold more ?

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Yes I get the stuck feeling but I have learned that happens when I drink or eat too fast or too much at one time, then it takes a while to go down. Yes I had the sleeve on 3/29.
Christinamo7 4,042 Posted April 24, 2016 my plan allowed for fish on soft foods, after week 2. I do not eat fish. my nut approved very moist crock pot chicken breast, and I did fine with that. small bites, chew well. rest between bites because it is so easy to have "one bite too many"

mmazzo 26 Posted April 24, 2016 @@Monie717 No, you're not behind schedule! My surgeon and nutritionist do NOT want you advancing foods till they tell you it's ok! Their plan is basically this...if on post-op day 2 you can tolerate Clear liquids, then they advance you to full liquids for the next 2 weeks. If that is tolerated, then after the 2 week appointment, they will let you go to puréed food. Then, after another time period (I can't remember now) if you are tolerating that, then you can go back to regular food. If you're having problems with pain with eating, then they say that you're probably eating too quickly. Personally, I would not advance my food any quicker than the surgeon recommends because you risk causing a leak...which can happen up to even 30+ days out!! Monie717 183 Posted April 24, 2016 I'm on track with my surgeon's plan. But when I hear other people eating meat and heavier things I got unsure of myself. Thanks for all the responses. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
