I was sleeved on 4/11/16 so I might be jumping the gun. I am now 13 days post surgery. The first week I lost 13lbs. And Then on day 9 l woke up and the scale said I had gained 4 lbs. This was the same time that I was finally able to get down my 64 ozs of Water and my 60 grams of protien. This week I feel great and have been active walking and bike riding. I've stuck to my liquid diet and made sure not to drink my calories. I've been a model patient and im confused. Does anyone have a similar experience or any insite to offer. Im beyond confused. I have my 2 week appt Monday and am nervous my doctor will think I've cheated.

Such fluctuations are completely normal...

Daily weighing will almost certainly do your head in...

It's virtually impossible to gain REAL weight on what your eating 9 days post surgery...

Don't forget that your body is likely still traumatized and therefore still in recovery mode...

Your 'gain' could be any number of things, most likely Fluid...

I'm sure your doc will put your mind at ease to some degree....

To me, it seems like you're all over this...

Keep up the great work!!!

Try limiting how much you weight yourself. Just follow your guidelines and rules, keep track of your cals and Fluid intake and wait a week to ten days and weight yourself again. You should be fine.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
