Tomorrow is my daughter's birthday. Can I have a small piece of cake?

I don't really know. I had NO DESIRE for birthday cake the first time I was confronted with one post-op. It was my nephews birthday and I sat right next to the cake and it didn't appeal to me.

If you really, really want to try it I would try a small bite first. I think you will be able to tell pretty soon whether you can tolerate a hit of sugar and starch that concentrated. I guess you would also get to figure out pretty quickly what dumping feels like if you were going to dump (which is more common with bypass than with the sleeve).

Birthdays only come once a year, so my take would be so long as it's a small piece, go for it.

Maybe you could but why would you want to? I am 8 months out and technically can eat anything I want. I have had cake and then wanted to fall asleep because that is what carbs do to me... They are my poppy field and I don't really want to be under their influence ever again.

YES! i am not as far out as you, I'm four weeks out and i had a half of a mini cupcake. It went down really well for me. Just be careful, of course.

I'm 8 weeks out and tried a quarter of a cinnamon roll yesterday morning and felt like I was going to throw up. But it passed and there were no other effects. Just try it and be careful.

I agree, start with a very small piece. have ONE bite, and wait ten minutes to see how it goes.

I've found the "ten minute wait" really helps when I'm trying something new.

Happy birthday to your daughter. I surely understand why you want to share her cake with her.
