sassyfrass23 525 Posted April 23, 2016 Mine! I work in IT...in Healthcare...so when I got to the OR, I immediately found the Da Vinci robot and stared in awe. My incisions never bothered me. And my pain was a minimum after day 4! Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
doppelganger 54 Posted April 23, 2016 My surgeon used the DaVinci too, I could've opted out, but I had no issues. My incisions are almost completely healed after almost 4wks. I didn't see the inside of the OR I remember the CRNA talking about Versed then I remember being wheeled into my room and seeing my husband post op.

cindyw41 761 Posted April 23, 2016 My doctor used it as well. The only part he did beside me and not at the joy stick was the ending where he removed the stomach. The only incision that bothered me was the large one to the left of my belly button. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Rainy Days 73 Posted April 24, 2016 my surgeon uses it, but honestly I haven't looked into it. Is it suppose to reduce pain and recovery time?
rmarion 10 Posted April 24, 2016 yes they used it;hardly any post op pain;just around belly button incision
2goldengirl 2,076 Posted April 24, 2016 She sure did. No postop gas pain from inflation. Only incisional pain was from where they took out the stomach. Never anything stronger than Tylenol once I was home.
Alice133 3 Posted April 25, 2016 Yup. My doctor did my surgery robotically and besides some nausea from the anesthesia I had almost no pain!

Marissela 49 Posted April 27, 2016 Excuse me for my not knowing....but what the heck is a Robot? I keep reading how it reduces pain and recovery time...you got my attention Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App
PixelToph 46 Posted April 27, 2016 (edited) Excuse me for my not knowing....but what the heck is a Robot? I keep reading how it reduces pain and recovery time...you got my attention It's when the surgeon uses a robotic assistant to perform the surgery. Usually the Davinci Surgical System. It's really neat, once the incisions are made and tools placed, the surgeon controls it from a separate station. It can be controlled with extreme precision, and the surgeon doesn't have to keep looking away from the instruments to watch the monitors, so it often results in faster healing and less pain. I actually could see the robot that my surgeon used for a minute, right before they put me under. It looked so cool!
