I am 8 days post op. I feel really lucky because my recovery has been great so far. Once I got past nausea the first two days, I have been able to drink my Protein and Water easily. I have had very little pain. I have only taken 1 pain pill since I left the hospital. Other than minor soreness and a little fatigue, I feel pretty "normal."

For the past three days, I feel like I am starving. Sometimes I can even feel my old stomach growl. My new stomach feels like it would growl if it could. I have read about head hunger. Maybe this is it, it doesn't feel like it though. Am I crazy? My dietician told me I can drink another shake a day and see if that helps. Any advice? I am pushing through. I know it could be a lot worse, so I don't plan on doing anything against doctors orders.

I am also 8 days out of lapband to gastric bypass surgery. Like you I recovered pretty well. However I also start to crave normals even sweets three days after the surgery. I also feel very worried about this.

I am hoping that once I make it to soft foods, this will ease up. The evenings are very difficult. I am glad I am not alone in this!

I'm hungry too. I'm three weeks post op and still on liquids (with about 11 days left). I am hoping once I get to the pureed stage I'll feel more satiated.

Same here. Hopefully the craving will ease up when we move to puréed food. Have you lost any weight? I lost 10 pounds then my weight stalled two days.

I'm 4 days post op- and I can feel as well as HEAR my stomach growling. Even after I drink broth! I try to ignore it because I know it'll be worth it& as long as I'm doing what I'm supposed to do, I'll be fine. [emoji4]

I am doing the same. I am glad I am not the only one! I am too scared of the consequences to deviate from the plan.

Depending on the surgery you had, it is likely not real hunger. In both the sleeve and bypass they cut the portion of the stomach that holds the hunger hormone.

Many times dehydration feels exactly like hunger. The first question I would ask is are you getting a minimum of 48 oz. of Water?

If you are then the 2nd thing it could be is reflux which is very common with the sleeve, not so common with bypass.

If you had either of these surgeries you are not feeling hungry this soon. Now, I will say that your head is half the battle. Head hunger can happen almost right away and I do remember being frustrated because I so badly wanted to chew something. That will continue until you get to soft foods.

If you have head hunger the best thing to do is do something to take your mind off of it. I crochet or read or take a shower.

Incidentally if you have had bypass Everytime you eat or drink something your stomach will make loud obnoxious noises and so far that has not gone away. I am nearly 20 months post op......I call her the grouch pouch and she is gurgling right now! LOL!

I also wondered if it could possibly be my "new stomach" adjusting, or gas. Because I definitely feel a rumbling.

I had the bypass. I am getting about 64-80 oz of Fluid a day. I am taking Gas-X also. I am taking 40 mg of omeprazole for acid . Maybe it is just head hunger/cravings, but I feel hungry like I would have pre-surgery. I try to keep my mind off food.

Thanks for your information, it is really helpful.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
