slbarry11 9 Posted April 22, 2016 Baths are going to be a no no for a while, don't want incisions infected. I took a regular shower two days after surgery. Just be gentle but it was honestly the best thing ever. Helps to wash the hospital off of you. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted April 22, 2016 I was able to shower right away. I probably could have taken one in the hospital. I was told just not to rub my incisions. I was't allowed to submerge in Water (bathe, swim) until after my incisions had healed. About four weeks.
jandbmom 16 Posted May 8, 2016 I was able to shower the next morning in the hospital. My surgeon used dermabond or something similar on my incisions. I just had to make sure I didn't rub them or try to pull it off.
Sajijoma 1,324 Posted May 8, 2016 I showered my second day in the hospital. They glued me shut so all I had to do was just avoid scrubbing those areas and keep a waterproof bandage over my drain. The drain was the worst part about bathing but I got a lanyard and clipped it to the drain for hands free showering. Made life easier. I wasn't cleared for bathing in the tub til after the hole where my drain had been had completely closed good...probably like 2 month post op.
jennamj94 29 Posted May 9, 2016 I showered the morning after when I got home from the hospital. I was told to use antibacterial soap, and don't rub it directly on the incisions but to let it run down my body and run over the sterie strips. i had to keep the sterie strips on for one week, and showered normally with them. you just have to make sure you pat them dry. I was told no baths for 60 days. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
