Love Life After Gastric Bypass

Recommended Posts

This may sound like a touching topic but I have always had a problem when it comes to dating. Don't get me wrong I have a daughter and I have had boyfriends in my past but no one really wanted to make a commitment. I take it because I have always been overweight.

High school I never had a prom date, actually I have never been on a date with a guy just me and him. I feel that one of my friends I have had since Jr high and he has always been here but never wanted to commit. My child father I was with him for 13 years but there was a lot of infidelity..

So like every other human being in the world as I am on my journey I would like the chance to finally go out on a date, finally settle down and feel real love, I would like the chance to finally walk down the aisle..

Give me you input on how your love life changed..

Since I was young, there has been a significant change in the dating habits. I think in the old days, a boy and a girl would go out to eat dinner or a movie. Today many times the norm is more like a group date where several boys and girls get together and go someplace and have a good time. It's like a shared date.

I think some dating has even evolved to electronic hook-ups. There are apps where you enter your profile and your phone enters your GPS location. And someone who wants to hook up just gets an alert when you are geographically near each other, looks over your profile, and if he likes what he sees, sends you a message.

I am old school. Been married for over 40 years and very happy. I corresponded with a girl on the other side of the world with someone at each side to translate the letters. Then after a year, I went and met her. After 5 weeks I proposed to her using a language dictionary. So it was a grand adventure and well worth it. So love can be found in the most unusual places and in strange ways.

That's is so neat... Yea you right it's more group dating. I'm personally not ready to date but I was just wondering if people noticed a different with being more attractive after surgery..

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
