Creamy Soups, straight up or mixed?

Recommended Posts

I'm lap band post op day 4 and so happy to try creamy Soup today. (Reminds me of eating Chef Boyardee in daycare 30 years ago! ) I filled up a 0.5 cup container with Campbell's healthy request creamy Tomato Soup straight from the can and ate half with a kid's spoon. I don't feel pain but I do feel very full, like the thick soup is just sitting in my pouch. The instructions say to mix the soup with a can of Water or milk. Does anyone do this? And does it affect how the pouch feels?

I always mix a can of Campbell's Tomato Soup with milk or Water. But I don't think that will affect how your pouch feels. It's just how everyone generally does it (including people not on diets or not WLS people). But it shouldn't be a factor in how you feel.

Only 4 days pre-op and eating cream Soup already? I'm just beginning cream soup and I'm 2 weeks post op. If you feel full, then leave it at that. You are going to feel different sensation when food is in your stomach now. Wait like an hour or two and see how you feel then.

Some Soups don't require mixing, it says so on the can.

However most Soups require adding Water, maybe bit of milk, and blending it well.

After cooking it, I was adding bit of runny yoghurt to my soups.

Don't know re how the pouch feels, as I never had an unmixed Soup.< /p>

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
