Dr. Nowzaradan's Diet Pre Surgery?

Recommended Posts

I am totally into 600lb life featuring Dr. Nowzaradan so I was curious if anyone knows or has a copy of the diet plan he sends home with his patients after he sees them for the first time. He expects large weight loss, in a month or two so I am curious as to what the diet plan consists of.

If you do it right then you will have large weight losses right after surgery. Plus, the bigger you are the more weight you will lose. I lost over a 100 lbs in the first 6 months after my surgery. Now, I'm not even a full year out and have lost a total of 176 lbs.

The problem with the people on the show is that most of them do not follow the diet and just eat whatever they want. They show them eating crap they should not be eating after the surgery. So it's no shocker when they end up losing so very little. The past one I watched with "Betty Jo" was a joke. She was celebrating her success when it was obvious she was still dangerously obese and then got pregnant on top of it. Sad.

I don't have his specific diet and would love to see it, too.

Just from watching random shoes it sounds like he focuses on calories but requires a high Protein, no starches, very low calorie diet.

I haven't looked online to see if there is any more info.

Also, keep in mind that the first people on the show had surgery 10 years ago, so his program has hopefully changed over time. He still seems sort of old school.

I remember seeing it online somewhere because I was curious too lol. I would have to look it back up for specifics, but I know he has them on 1200 calorie diet with no snacking in between. And I believe 3 meals a day

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
