baribetty 165 Posted May 29, 2018 My surgeon said it doesn’t matter how long you wait, but you should lose the weight first because the main consequence may be a negative effect of weight loss, not on the pregnancy. SydneySleever 104 Posted May 29, 2018 My endocrinologist who I see for PCOS recommended 12 months of weight stability. The reasoning behind this is that when you drop a lot of weight the body has evolved to think that there has been a reason such as drought or other disaster leading to a food shortage. This then impacts the baby not through the form of birth defects but impacts on long term metabolic outcomes because the child ‘thinks’ it’s being born into a environment with not enough food. I haven’t looked into this myself because it sounded logical and she talk about a lot of research! Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
