wenmarie83 0 Posted April 21, 2016 I literally am just getting started. I called my insurance this morning to make sure it was covered, and called the doctor. I have a seminar on July 20. They are sending me all the required paperwork in the mail. What am I looking forward to in this process?? daizymom 62 Posted April 21, 2016 I'm in Canada, so it will probably be different. I had an orientation this past Monday, and received my next 3 appointments- June Social Worker, July Nurse Practitioner and August Nutrition class. I'm kind of disappointed because it feels like it's taking way too long but I have to deal with it.
wenmarie83 0 Posted April 21, 2016 (edited) I'm just so happy to get the process started. It kinda sucks to have to wait so long for my first appt. Sent from my MotoE2(4G-LTE) using the BariatricPal App Edited April 21, 2016 by wenmarie83
proudmommy315 16 Posted April 21, 2016 It does suck you have to wait but trust me it will be here before you know it. Due to work I had to wait 7 months from my seminar to surgery. I thought it would take forever. But it was here in a flash and now I'm 5months post op. !
achappex3 346 Posted April 21, 2016 It depends on your insurance. I actually started on my own scheduling my own seminar. I went and filled out the paperwork there. I am currently a month into my 6 month supervised diet period we may be having surgery around the same time! Donna415 47 Posted April 26, 2016 Congrats on getting it all started! I just had my second nutrition appointment yesterday and going to the psychologist and another nutritional appointment on May 24th. It really does seem to be flying by though. delbertmills 1 Posted April 27, 2016 I just went to seminar on Monday. Staff discussed non-surgical weight loss programs and types of weight loss surgery available. Plenty of time for questions. At the end, someone from insurance Dept had already found my insurance perquisites and let me know what they were (3 mos of meeting with dietitian) and two-three year records of weight loss attempts w/PCP needed for my initial meeting with Surgeon. I was able to schedule my first appointment with the surgeon (June 14th) and my first of 3 required meetings with dietician (May 13th)

A grand adventure and a whole new life. An opportunity to learn a lot: about obesity, nutrition, and yourself. The opportunity to practice positivity, patience, polite persistence, and perseverance. Write everything down and ask lots of questions. Keep asking questions until you understand. Be prepared to do everything your team asks you to do, even if you think you can't. Best of luck and keep us posted on how you are doing.
