I am so sorry that you are having so much trouble with this process. I went through a smaller version of the struggle. It took 2 denials and an appeal. Stating everything from I had not excepting the necessary lifestyle changes to i was not mentally stable. I believe that the insurance companies pick random people to push the limits with. Just an option. But you will get there, you are working very hard for what you want.

What is your BMI? You don't have any of your information filled out. Are you around 40 BMI?

I can't imaging going through 2 denials and an appeal. It's such a roller coaster. I really thought my surgery would be in March and now here I am still working at getting approved. I'm not going to give up on it. I figure this gives me time to start losing some of my weight so I'm ahead of the game.

I'm at exactly 40 and I have a comorbidity so I could actually lose a bit and should still be okay. Truthfully, I'd love to lose it and keep it off without the surgery. Through experience I'm pretty sure that won't happen.

I know how that is, I thought my surgery was going to be last August but it did not happen until March 16th. It gave me even more time to make sure this is what I wanted. There is always a reason for everything that happens. You will get your approval when you least except it and it will be when it's the best possible time. Keep me updated.

When I started this process back in July I couldn't understand when people said the 6 month wait was a good thing. I was prepared and wanted it NOW. I can't say that I felt the 6 months of nutrition appointments were helpful but, for some odd reason since the denial I've accepted that it is going to happen it will just not be on my time schedule. In the past week since the denial I've eaten healthier than I did during the whole nutrition experience. For some reason that stressed me out and I'm a stress eater.

Thank you for your comments. It is appreciated.

1) collect and send in your own paperwork if stuff is missing 2) get on medically supervised diet for 6 months 3) you must have weighed in higher at some doctors appointments sometime in the past OR just finance your surgery and get on with it. I had no choice and honestly you all go through hell trying to get insurance to cover it. And yes I will own one less car in my life and the car I currently have will have to last me another 5 years, but it's worth it. It's the best thing I ever did. Also is your current doctor a bariatric surgeon or some other kind of doc? Bariatric surgeons offices are usually very good about the paper work because they only get paid right if the paperwork is right. Good luck[emoji4]

@@FocusOnMeNow I've already been through the 6 months of nutrition visits. I don't have the patience for insurance appeals, and yet the thought of self pay angers me. Like most people I pay a large amount of money for insurance. I've hired an attorney to do the appeals process for me. It isn't a guaranteed positive result, but I'm sure their success with an appeal will be much greater than my efforts at one would have been.

Your results are fantastic and perhaps I will end up being self pay. I will fight the insurance battle first before I make that decision.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
