Sleeved on yesterday

Recommended Posts

Hi All. I was sleeved on yesterday. Upon waking up, I had a serious headache from the anesthesia. The worst part was the nausea and I was burping like crazy. I didn't feel better until I vomited a little. Anybody else experience this?

The first couple of days post-op are going to be rough. You will have a lot of discomfort, possibly some pain, possibly som nausea, and just feel generally pretty crappy. Hang in there.

You probably will regret it in the early days. Almost all of us go through a period of "buyer's remorse". It's just crappy all around. The good news is, it gets better and better with each passing day. It will feel like it's dragging on forever in the moment, but soon enough you'll be a month out, looking back, and not be able to believe how far you've come in so little time. Just have to tough out this rough period. I was crying every single day, wondering "what did I do to myself?!?!" and "will I ever feel normal again". But I survived and made it through and my "regrets" about the surgery soon slipped away and were replaced with confidence that I'd made one of the best decisions of my life!

The first few days are really tough. I had lots of crying fits and moments of regret. A month later, I can say that it was the best decision. Hang in there ld33! It'll get better every day!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
