Conventional wisdom is to wait until you've maintained your weight for about 12 months. Some people do it a little sooner.

Are you happy at the weight you are now? I don't think a quick loss of 10 pounds after maintaining for a year would have a significant impact on your skin, so you should still be fine to consider TT now. Just consult your potential surgeon and definitely discuss with them if you are seriously considering losing any MORE weight.

Not really if love to drop another 20-50 but that might be some of the skin I want to have removed... the 10 lbs didn't bother my skin I was just super excited about loosing it bc of the being stick for so long :)

Don't plan on losing weight with the skin removal surgery. Yes, it has some weight to it, especially if you have a lot of it, but the months of swelling and the weeks of inactivity post-op will cause you to, at least temporarily, gain some weight. By the time things level out several months post-op, it will be hard to say how much the skin removal itself has affected your weight. So you definitely want to be at or near your target weight prior to the surgery.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
