3 weeks clear liquids

Recommended Posts

My dr has 3 week clear liquid post op. I am on day 4. I hate G2 but grape i can tolerate. Water and broth makes me nauseous. broth from chicken noodle Soup I can do its just so salty and a waste. Popscicle and Jello are getting old. But I feel I'm hungry. I cant introduce foods until 4 weeks. I am really struggling.

Wow - that's a long time with only Clear liquids and no Protein. :-( You might be experiencing "head hunger" instead of true hunger. Can you add anything to your Water - like flavor drops or crystal light? I would consider contacting your Nutritionist to see what they recommend - it's critical that you get all of your fluids in and I would have thought you would need Protein in week 2 at least (but I'm certainly not an expert).

Can you do clear Protein Drinks? Isopure, Syntrax Nectar, and Unjury chicken broth are all clear Protein drinks. For my Clear Liquids phase I did a lot of strained broth-based Soups. They had more flavor than just plain chicken broth. But I think it's nuts you haven't been given any instructions on getting any protein in for 3 full weeks!

Yeah, I was only on clear liquids for 3 days and then I was allowed my regular Protein Shakes at least. I think it was closer to a week and a half before I was allowed any other "full" liquids besides the shakes. At that point I was allowed drinkable yogurt and strained cream Soups.< /p>

You definitely need protein! During my clear phase I had Isopure Cookies and cream flavor. If you get unflavored Isopure then it's only half the amount of Proteins, but at least you can add a bit here and there to warm beverages. If you want more variety on clears, try diet Snapple, diet Fuze, and Powerade Zero.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
