Doc'sWife 56 Posted April 19, 2016 A totally TMI subject but I'm curious....I have issues being regular since I had my band placed in 2010 and have to take Miralax to help things along. Since the bypass messes directly with that process moreso then the band I was wondering how the poop process goes. Does anyone have to help things along or is it easier, does it change the farther out from surgery you get? Thanks peeps Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
James Marusek 5,244 Posted April 19, 2016 I am 35 months post op RNY gastric bypass surgery. Right after surgery I became lactose intolerant. So I had episodes of diarrhea until I figured this out and stopped drinking milk. Then several months after surgery, I had very severe Constipation. The only thing that worked was glycerin suppositories that you had to insert up your rear end. I finally discovered eating apples with the skin helped solve my problem. So generally constipation is not a problem anymore. It is also very important to consume the adequate amount of fluids each day otherwise it can lead to constipation. Mayaresearchmom 104 Posted April 23, 2016 I put a tablespoon of benefiber powder in my Breakfast shake every day. I can't even tell its there. The Water I drink the rest of the day helps the benefiber do its job. I'm miserable if I miss a day.
