Hi! I'm in my 4th month of pre op certification. I have been a type 1 diabetic for over 30 years. I have had an insulin pump for 17 years, I am a little concerned about not being able to eat following the surgery...... What if my blood sugar drops and I just can't get anything in my system. I don't want my sugars to remain high in the months after surgery just due to fear of them dropping. Any T1D's that can help me with my concerns??

@@beccaslosinit - check under the special Interest forum for diabetics on the main page, you may find some answers there.

Good luck!

Have something in your pocket. But with having the pump you should be pretty good. But with nerves that can make it drop. Keep Mentos with you or some other hard candy. If you can't out it in a pocket out it in your sick
